i grew up with polaroid film, and dabbled in it during early adulthood, then became obsessed when i learned it would no longer be produced after 2009. i’ve taken my cameras on the road and i’m posting my archive here because.

notes on film and cameras used

the last line of the polaroid “placard” identifies the film used.
over the years i’ve tried to take detailed notes on the back of the photo: location, date, and in some instances i noted the specific type of film, and sometimes i only noted the type of camera, but sometimes i didn’t note either. camera type won’t always tell the film story, as for a very long time i shot 600 film in one of many sx70 cameras with an ND filter because 600 film was easier to find. here’s how i’ve chosen to categorize the film used for the photos i’m posting here:

legacy polaroid shot on color film made by the polaroid corporation, prior to the expiration date on the box (last year of production was 2009). most likely 600 film, shot with a 600-type camera (i’ve used a few models), but could also been 600 film shot with an sx-70 + ND filter.

legacy polaroid (expired) shot on color film made by the polaroid corporation, after the expiration date (last year of production was 2009). most likely 600 film, shot with a 600-type camera (i’ve used a few models), but could also been 600 film shot with an sx-70 + ND filter.

the impossible project any instance of film made by the impossible project between 2008 and 2017. in some instances i noted the specific film type on the back of the photo, but i wasn’t diligent. could be sx70 or 600 film, color or b&w, with frame variations, and i used multiple 600 and sx70 camera models over that time frame, so hard to say…

polaroid this is film produced by what was known as the impossible project, but made after they were purchased by the polaroid corporation in 2017. see above note regarding film notes/types, the same holds true in terms of film specifics.

if you’d like a print of any of the polaroids, that would make my day! until there is actual demand, the process will be manual and will take up to 4 weeks to complete. send an email to polaroidaday @ gmail dot com to start the process.
